Are Lumineers strong enough?
Known for its exceptional strength, lumineers are constructed from Cerinate® porcelain. And while lumineers are thinner than dental veneers, they are less likely to chip or break. Another benefit? Cerinate® porcelain can be color-modified and balanced, meaning different levels of opaqueness and translucency can be utilized.
How are lumineers applied to the teeth?
Because so little etching is required ahead of time, lumineers are so easy to fit. When dealing with veneers, many teeth are required to be permanently altered or drilled to make sure they fit best. Lumineers offer a beautiful end product without any drilling, anesthesia or extensive etching. Because of this, your time in the dental chair is significantly reduced to almost half, when compared to traditional veneers.
During your first visit, bite impressions (molds) and X-rays are taken to establish the exact way your teeth fit together. Little Rock cosmetic dentist, Dr. Khullar thoroughly examines your teeth to ensure no signs of gum disease and no tooth decay are present. Together, you and the Dentalways team will choose the color of the lumineers based on the desired level of transparency. Then, the bite impressions are sent to the dental laboratory to be custom-crafted.
During your second appointment, the lumineers are bonded to the teeth. Using a beveled featheredge margin, bonding substance is carefully removed if it's oozed out from beneath the covers. Once the lumineers are in place, cosmetic dentist Dr. Khullar will polish them until they are entirely smooth. The advantage of this, is staining agents and bacteria can't easily adhere to the surface.
Finally, the lumineers are separated. Up until this point, they are still attached where the bite impressions recommend your teeth would join naturally. The treatment is then finished, leaving you with a beautiful white smile in addition to perfect, healthy teeth.
